Map: Find the Path You Forgot

Course Description

Modern life draws us into an empty trance without us noticing. Emptiness often appears when distraction fades or when we finally get what we want – only to discover something is still missing. We tend to treat emptiness as a problem to fix, a void to fill or a sign that something has gone wrong. But what if emptiness isn’t a failure of meaning, but the first clue that meaning is trying to break through?

This course takes a radical view: emptiness is an unfolding map from the unlived life. It reveals the inner architecture that needs to be explored – the House of Ego, the Hotel of Relationship and the Underground – and shows where the old layout no longer fits, opening space for deeper purpose to surface. Drawing on depth psychology, neuroscience and real‑life stories, emptiness helps you recognise the limits of your current architecture and shift it as you follow signals rising from the unconscious to live out the four dimensions of meaning (Purpose, Coherence, Connection and Mattering).

This course is Door Three of the Meaning Path – where the emptiness of individuation becomes a guide to your true purpose. Across Carl Jung’s hidden architecture of the psyche, you’ll explore how to reorder identity, deepen connection and integrate meaning into everyday life. Emptiness becomes a pathway back to coherence, direction and a life that truly matters.

Course Structure

This Unlived Life course combines short presentations with discussion, reflection and practical exploration. Depth psychology is a branch of psychology that explores the unconscious mind and how hidden thoughts, fears, and memories shape everyday behaviour, choices and relationships. From this perspective, emptiness signals that it is time to step off the well-worn path of modern life and take the path less travelled onto the Meaning Path.

“Your emptiness wants to be filled with meaning, not distraction.” – Carl Jung

This Unlived Life MAP course is based on the book The Path You Forgot: Dialogue with Your Unlived Life in the Emptiness of Modern Life written by the tutor and included in the course fee. Blending real-life stories, practical insights and the occasional knock-knock dialogue, the Meaning Path Series explores the concept of individuation and leads you back to the unlived life. 3 Doors. 1 Path. The Unlived Life – start anywhere.

MAP explores Carl Jung’s hidden architecture of the psyche (soul) and opens meaning to every area of your life. The House of Ego is the part of you built to survive modern life. The Hotel of Relationship is where your inner world meets the outer world of others. And the Underground is the shared unconscious beneath your identity and relationships.

Course Learning Outcomes

By the end of the Unlived Life MAP course, students will be able to:

  • Understand how the two brain hemispheres work and discover, from a neuroscience perspective, why inner and outer dialogue is central in managing emptiness.
  • Understand how we operate out of about 5% of our conscious mind and discover practical depth psychology principles to explore the hidden inner forces that shape how we think, feel, relate and live.
  • Explore how emptiness reveals the limits of the House of Ego and learn how to reorder priorities, identity and meaning.
  • Re‑examine how the inner world meets the outer world of others by reordering the Hotel of Relationship through the four dimensions of meaning – Purpose, Coherence, Connection and Mattering.
  • Follow deeper signals rising from the unconscious underground using active imagination and learn how to dialogue you’re your unlived life.
  • Learn how to transform, not transmit, suffering by integrating inner and outer structures and recognising emerging synchronicities (meaningful coincidences) that affirm your unfolding true purpose.
  • Bring the inner shift into everyday life and return with a clearer direction, reconnected to yourself, others and life itself.
