Learn the history, tools, the way of making ink and the basic stroke with a 'fude' calligraphy brush. Write with emotion in Japanese on 'Hanshi', Japanese paper with 'Sumi', Japanese ink. This is perfect for Zen meditation. Materials can cost between $20-$90 depending on kit chosen. Kits to be ordered online or purchased in Australia before the course commences. Fumie has been teaching at WEA since 2025

Fumie was born and raised in Japan. She works as a freelance graphic designer in Adelaide. Fumie has had a passion for creativity since she was a child, drawing, painting and lino cutting etc. Fumie completed her Diploma in Graphic Design at TAFE SA: Adelaide College of the Arts. She has won awards in the student category from two different Australian graphic design organisations ,AADC and AGDA. Her interesting background includes working as a registered dietitian in Japan.
