Course Description

As one of the largest marketing platforms in the world, MailChimp offers a wealth of tools to help businesses connect with their target audiences. In this workshop, you’ll learn how to incorporate email marketing into your overall marketing strategy and leverage MailChimp to build stronger relationships with your customers and grow your business.

Throughout the day, we'll cover the essential features of MailChimp, including how to set it up properly, build and manage email lists, design visually appealing email campaigns, and use segmentation to send targeted emails.

We’ll also dive into critical topics such as compliance with email marketing regulations, understanding email performance through reporting, and setting up automations to save time and streamline communication. You’ll gain hands-on experience with MailChimp and discover how to use this platform to maximise your results.

Whether you’re new to email marketing or simply wanting to refine your MailChimp skills, this workshop will provide you with the knowledge and practical tools you need to effectively engage your audience and achieve your marketing goals. 

This course will be held in the WEA Computer Training Centre. Students are welcome to use the WEA computers or bring their own laptop. Please bring your MailChimp login details if you wish to use your own account. Alternatively, a ‘dummy’ account will be available for students to use.

Course Structure

During the workshop we will work through the following topics:

  • Why you should be using email marketing
  • Legislation and compliance
  • MailChimp pricing and plans
  • Alternatives to MailChimp
  • How to build an email database using lead magnets and other tactics
  • Maintaining the integrity of your email database
  • Understanding email deliverability and how to avoid spam filters
  • Designing email communications
  • How to use split testing to improve performance
  • How to use segmentation for targeted email marketing
  • Tracking and measuring email marketing performance
  • How to utilise automation in email marketing
  • An overview of landing pages and how to use them effectively 

There will be ample opportunities for questions, and we will take a short break for lunch.

Kelly Hody MBA(Mkt), BBus(BusMgt), DipDigMkt, CertIVTrngAssmnt has been teaching at WEA since 2017.

With more than 15 years of hands-on marketing experience, Kelly is passionate about simplifying the complexities of marketing for small business owners and volunteer-led organisations. In a world where marketing can seem like an overly complicated puzzle, Kelly stands as a beacon of simplicity and success, proving that with the right guidance anyone can implement effective marketing tactics to achieve their business objectives.

Kelly has an MBA specialising in Marketing, a Bachelor of Business (Business Management), a Diploma in Digital Marketing and a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, and runs her own business as a freelance marketing consultant.
