Rock ‘n’ Roll Dance Workshop

Course Description

Get ready to step back in time and learn the exciting world of Rock 'n' Roll dancing in this fun and interactive class!

In the first hour, your experienced instructor will guide you through the three basic elements of Rock 'n' Roll: the Basic Step, the Underarm Turn, and the Yoyo.

You’ll practice these moves with a partner, learning how to freestyle and dance to the classic jukebox music from the 50s and 60s. With plenty of hands-on practice to the rhythm of the music, you’ll quickly build confidence and start to feel the groove of this lively dance style.

At the end of the class, head to the QuickSteps bar for a complimentary drink as the live band kicks off, setting the perfect atmosphere for dancing. Watch as the dance floor fills with fellow Rock 'n' Roll enthusiasts from all over Adelaide.

Your teacher will be there to encourage and guide you onto the dance floor, giving you the chance to try out your new moves to live music.

This class is perfect for singles and couples alike, and you’ll leave with the confidence to enjoy one of the world’s most beloved partner dance styles at the monthly live music Rock 'n' Roll event.

The class will be held out the back of the venue in the Baker Ballroom and the party will be in the main ballroom under the disco ball.

Course Requirements

You will not need any special equipment. We provide a filtered water station and glasses so you don't even need to bring water!

If you already have ballroom dancing or rock n roll shoes, please bring them. If not, no problem! It is best to wear shoes that are comfortable but not rubber soled. Avoid sneakers or trainers as they tend to stick to the floor. For men, leather business or dinner shoes are best. For ladies, heels or flats are fine as long as they are securely attached to your foot and do not have a rubber base.
