Course Description
Celebrate the festive season by creating your own beautiful handmade jewellery in this fun and beginner-friendly polymer clay workshop.
Whether you're making a unique Christmas gift for someone special or treating yourself to a festive accessory, you'll learn the fundamentals of working with polymer clay while creating a colourful, one-of-a-kind wearable piece.
Using the eye-catching Bargello technique, inspired by traditional textile patterns, you'll discover how simple shapes and vibrant colours can be combined to produce striking jewellery designs.
With expert step-by-step guidance in a relaxed small-group setting, you'll learn essential polymer clay techniques including conditioning, shaping, texturing, baking and assembling professional-quality jewellery.
All materials, tools and jewellery findings are provided, so all you need to bring is your creativity.
By the end of the workshop, you'll take home a finished pair of earrings and/or a pendant, along with the confidence and skills to continue exploring polymer clay as a rewarding creative hobby.
No previous experience is required. This workshop is suitable for complete beginners.
If you use reading or sewing glasses for close, detailed work, please bring them along.
Course Structure
This hands-on workshop combines tutor demonstrations with guided practical activities to introduce students to the fundamentals of polymer clay jewellery making.
Students will learn how to prepare and condition polymer clay before exploring the colourful Bargello technique to create distinctive patterns and designs.
Throughout the session, participants will shape, texture, cut, bake and finish their jewellery before assembling the completed pieces using professional jewellery findings.
With individual guidance provided throughout the workshop, students will leave with a completed wearable creation and an understanding of the techniques needed to continue making polymer clay jewellery at home.
Course Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, students should be able to:
- Prepare and condition polymer clay for jewellery making
- Apply the Bargello technique to create colourful patterned designs
- Shape, texture and refine polymer clay jewellery pieces
- Understand the correct baking process for durable polymer clay jewellery
- Assemble jewellery using professional findings

Your Tutor is Elena Pochesneva

From 2024, Elena Pochesneva has been sharing her expertise through her course, "Capture with a Digital SLR Photo Camera," at WEA South Australia.
Elena's passion for photography was ignited during her school years when she discovered the magic of black-and-white film. Using her grandfather’s vintage film camera, she spent hours in a darkroom with red light, processing and printing photos. For over 20 years, Elena was a journalist, she travelled to many parts of the world, communicating with many different people, reporting news, having options to take photos of interesting events and beautiful nature.
‘I believe that through photography I could share the beauty of nature and humans, bring positive emotions into peoples’ lives and inspire people to appreciate the world around them. – Elena said, - It's an endless chance to explore the depth of our surroundings and share these impressions with others’.
As a photographer, Elena has experience in hosting personal exhibitions and participating in group exhibitions. She is skilled in exhibition setup, promotion, and organizing opening and supporting events. Additionally, she has experience coordinating with local and national communities, art centres, and the South Australian Government.
