Course Structure
This 3-hour session offers a comprehensive introduction to Japan, divided into three sections.
About Japan: Explore Japan’s geography.
Travel: Discover popular festivals and events like Gion Matsuri and Sakura festivals. Dive into Japanese cuisine, exploring dishes such as sushi, ramen, and tempura, while understanding their cultural significance. Learn about accommodation options, from traditional ryokan inns to capsule hotels, and navigate Japan’s transportation system, including the famous Shinkansen and metro networks.
Culture: Gain insight into Japan’s rich cultural heritage. Explore traditional martial arts like karate, judo, and aikido, and discover the beauty of ikebana (flower arranging) and tea ceremonies. Explore traditional music instruments like the shamisen and taiko drums and understand Japan’s traditional kimono fashion.

Fumie was born and raised in Japan. She works as a freelance graphic designer in Adelaide. Fumie has had a passion for creativity since she was a child, drawing, painting and lino cutting etc. Fumie completed her Diploma in Graphic Design at TAFE SA: Adelaide College of the Arts. She has won awards in the student category from two different Australian graphic design organisations ,AADC and AGDA. Her interesting background includes working as a registered dietitian in Japan.
