Songwriting Workshop

Course Description

Do you have a song idea mulling around in your head?

This engaging and supportive workshop will help you turn your ideas into fully realised songs.

Whether you’re starting from scratch or developing something you’ve already begun, you’ll learn practical techniques to shape your ideas, craft memorable lyrics and melodies, and understand what makes songs resonate with listeners.

Through a mix of guided exercises, collaboration and feedback, you’ll explore song structures, hooks and creative processes used by successful songwriters.

The workshop is designed to be relaxed, inclusive and inspiring, giving you the confidence to share your work, experiment with new ideas and connect with like-minded creatives.

Some musical experience or the ability to play a few chords is helpful but not essential.

Collaboration is encouraged, and support will be provided where needed.

Course Structure

The workshop begins with introductions, goal setting and a brief overview of the songwriting process, followed by activities to help participants connect and identify their strengths.

Students will explore songwriting techniques through guided prompts and exercises, working individually or collaboratively to generate ideas and begin drafting songs.

As the session progresses, participants will share their work in a supportive environment and receive constructive feedback to help refine their ideas.

Time is then dedicated to revising and developing songs, incorporating feedback and preparing for informal performance.

The workshop concludes with participants sharing their songs and reflecting on their creative process, along with guidance for further development beyond the session.
