Course Description

French 3 is a year-long course tailored for learners who have completed French 2 or have equivalent knowledge.

It continues the progression through the Alter Ego+A1 textbook series, offering deeper exploration of vocabulary, grammar, and cultural understanding.

Students will expand their communication skills through more complex sentence structures and verb tenses while engaging with topics relevant to daily life, personal well-being, food culture, and future aspirations.

The classroom environment remains supportive and inclusive, encouraging participation and practical language use through speaking, listening, reading, and writing activities.

Throughout the course, students will build fluency by learning how to navigate health-related conversations, discuss their tastes and preferences in French cuisine, and talk about their goals and plans using the simple future tense.

Cultural insights into wellness practices, gastronomy, and professional life in France will be woven into the learning experience, enriching both language skills and intercultural awareness.

This course prepares students for more independent use of French in real-world contexts and serves as a stepping stone to more advanced study.

Course Structure

Students will work through three themed textbook units across the year. Each unit combines grammar, vocabulary, and cultural knowledge with practical communication goals.

Unit 7: Staying Healthy

  • Pragmatic goals: Express discomfort, ask for health advice, discuss well-being.
  • Cultural goals: Understand how health and wellness are approached in France.

  • Pragmatic goals: Talk about food preferences, understand a recipe, give opinions about food.
  • Cultural goals: Discover French gastronomy and the cultural significance of cuisine in France.

Unit 9: Plans
