Have you ever wanted to try traditional oil paints? Water-mixable oils are a perfect choice to start your artistic journey. This course will take you step by step from drawing, mixing and matching colours through to the final brush strokes. You will also explore the Old Masters painting methods such as basic brushstroke; direct painting; grisaille method and much more. Approximate cost for materials $70. Or you can pay $25 to tutor to cover materials used during the course.

Your Tutor is Victoria Lowery

Victoria Lowery MA VisArt, GradDipEdSec has been teaching at WEA since April 2011.

Victoria is passionate about the creative process, and has been drawing, painting, working with textiles and designing from an early age, influenced by her father who was an artist and graphic designer. 

Victoria emigrated from Ukraine as an established artist and graduate of L’viv National Academy of Arts, and came to South Australia in 2011 after living and exhibiting her artwork in Austin, Texas in the United States for two years. 

While teaching at the WEA, Victoria completed a Master’s Degree in Visual Art and Design and Illustration and later, a Diploma in Secondary Education at UniSA. 

Victoria teaches a range of WEA art and craft courses including acrylic and watercolour painting, drawing, textiles and fibre design.
