Bob the murder man is from Historical Adelaide tours and is an historian with a passion for unravelling the mysteries of Adelaide’s darker past. Come and learn about a number of murders in the south eastern corner in the city of Adelaide where Bob will expose the darker side of Adelaide’s past and explore the complex intersections of crime, punishment, and society.

Course Description

Adelaide is a city rich in history, with grand architecture, hidden laneways, and stories that stretch far beyond its peaceful facade. Exploring this history through walking tours offers a unique and immersive way to connect with the past – bringing to life the people, places, and events that shaped the city. 

Join Bob the Murder Man from Historical Adelaide Tours for a captivating journey into the darker side of Adelaide’s history. 

As a dedicated historian with a passion for unravelling the city’s mysteries, Bob will guide you through the south-eastern corner of Adelaide, revealing chilling tales of murder and intrigue. 

This tour delves into real historical cases and explores how crime, punishment, and social attitudes were deeply intertwined in Adelaide’s past. It’s a gripping, thought-provoking experience for history buffs, true crime fans, and curious minds alike.

Bob will focus on murders, suicides and preventable and unexplained deaths which have occurred in South Australia from the day of Proclamation on 28 December 1836 until 1972. 

Bob has spent hours delving into coronial and police files to research these deaths and you’ll be fascinated as he shares these tragic experiences. 

Course Structure

This two-hour walking tour takes you through the streets of Adelaide, beginning and ending at the WEA Centre on Angas Street. 

Some paths along the route are uneven, so comfortable, sturdy footwear is recommended. 

Don’t forget to bring a bottle of water to stay hydrated along the way.

Your Tutor is Bob Elliott

Bob commenced with the WEA in 2025.

Some people know him as Bob the murder man, others know him as a novice historian with a passion for unravelling the mysteries of South Australia's darker past. With years of research and exploration into the state’s historical records, and 4 years of volunteering as a guide at the Old Adelaide Gaol, Bob brings to light the chilling tales of murders, hangings and unusual deaths that have left a mark on South Australia's history.  All records must be 50 years or older for him to access them.

From the harsh frontier days to the bustling cities of the 20th century, Bob provides a captivating narrative that sheds light on the social, cultural, and legal contexts surrounding these gruesome events, and the changes in standards, expectations and law along the way.

Join Bob as he travels through the streets of Adelaide which is full of intrigue, suspense, and historical significance, revealing the untold stories of some of South Australia's murders and deaths and the sombre rituals of justice that followed in their wake.  Bob Elliott has a unique presentation on the state of South Australia.
