A place that has become second only to Gallipoli as a destination for Australians seeking to understand our proud Anzac heritage. Young Australian soldiers, under equipped, under trained and outnumbered, fought a series of desperate battles in 1942, ultimately slowing the enemy to a standstill within sight of Port Moresby. Come along and hear about the history, and the modern Kokoda Track, how difficult is the walk, and why do so many Australians attempt this each year. The tutor completing the Track in 2024.
Stephen commenced at the WEA in 2025.
Stephen has a passion for history and for travel, having currently visited 28 countries, with plans for many more.
He has a corporate career in engineering, finance and project management, and with four adult children now has time to devote to travel.
Stephen completed the Kokoda Track in 2024, having been inspired by his family history of service at Gallipoli, personal stories of the bombing of Darwin in 1941, and his son’s service in the Australian military.
