Through gentle, flowing movements, derived from Qigong and Pilates, you will aim to cultivate a sense of balance in the mind and body. The exercises use a focus on breathwork as a gateway to mindfulness and are performed to curated harmonious music. This class requires participants to bring their own mat and an ability to safely work on the floor.
Mindful Movement
Course Description
Mindful Movement is the act of moving with awareness on the body in the present moment.
It involves consciously adopting an attitude of curiosity, openness and approaching, while noticing what is happening to your thoughts and emotions.
This practice encourages gentle kindness to yourself, feeling gratitude for the experience and for dedicating the time to care for yourself.
This class of gentle movement involves placing the attention on the breath, the body and the senses. Noticing what you see, hear, touch, taste is part of the practice. Being conscious of the stretch of the skin, the feel of the limb moving, the feet on the ground, the air passing through the nostrils into the lungs, the diaphragm pushing the abdomen into an extended state, continuously returning the thoughts back to the process with gentle kindness and an attitude of approaching and acceptance.
The movement is performed to harmonious music, with the role of the music being to assist with the sensory experience. The combination of music and movement has been carefully selected to elicit a sense of tranquillity.
Course Structure
This is a practical, low-intensity class designed to support both body and mind through mindful movement and relaxation techniques.
Each session begins with an introduction to mindfulness, helping participants centre their focus and prepare for the class. Gentle standing movements inspired by Qigong follow, encouraging energy flow and awareness of breath and posture.
The class then moves to the mat for Pilates-based floor exercises that focus on strength, flexibility, and controlled movement. Breathwork is woven throughout the session to deepen awareness and support relaxation.
Each class concludes with a calming full-body relaxation and guided meditation, leaving participants feeling refreshed and grounded.
Students are required to bring their own mat and must be able to safely work on the floor.
