A BRITISH HISTORY IN PICTURES
World History
Archaeology

Beginning with Stonehenge, we will look at the Romans, the treasures of Sutton Hoo, romantic castle ruins and sumptuous stately homes - and we will explore some of the dastardly plots and conspiracies that helped shape today’s Britain. Thanks largely to the National Trust and English Heritage, the past is easy for travellers to explore. It sings from every monument, castle and abbey. And it’s a remarkable history, shaped by invasions, inventions and the vicissitudes of inclement weather. This course promises kings, queens, tragic wars, two uniquely British revolutions and a glimpse of the golden age of English literature. Travel through hundreds of years of turbulent history, make up your own mind about the ghost stories and discover the importance of bunting.
