A day exploring the pretty mid north. White settlement in the Jamestown region began with Yongala station in 1847. We will see the old homestead just off the road and the nearby villages of Belalie North (one of the highest old railway stations of SA), Canowie Belt and Loudon Brae. The latter hints at the Scottish links of gracious Jamestown. Beyond Jamestown we drive past Old Canowie and we explore the forgotten Whyte- Yarcowie including its cemetery. Extensive history notes. A day to remember for some time. Departs WEA Centre 8:30am and returns approximately 6:30pm.
