Although Belair is close to the city today time wise, it was a world away in 1860 when Old Government House was built as a vice regal summer retreat. Today the quaint little mansion is part of Belair National Park with furniture and pieces of the time. Our tour includes the downstairs "swimming pool" and morning tea. The pretty garden here is an introduction to several hills heritage gardens - Gamble Cottage Garden, Ashby's Blackwood estate which is now Wittunga Botanic Garden and the formal gardens and orchard of Carrick Hill at Springfield. A day of historic houses and gardens. Depart WEA 9:30am and return approximately 5pm. Extensive notes are provided.
